Sometime last year, Kyle and I decided to move in together. Around the same time, he made a New Years Resolution to get a dog and I made a similar resolution to get a cat.
So here we are a year later. We moved in with two of our closest friends. Between the four of us we have a puppy, two kittens, a hamster, a gecko, and a tarantula. And we all live in a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, single story apartment (Thank God for the porch and yard).
We live a pretty silly life. Here’s a recap of it so far:
I haven’t lived somewhere with a yard since I moved out of parents house- it is SO wonderful.
My birthday came and went. One of my friends made me a cake! Favorite colors and best crutches nickname.
We adopted a puppy! Kyle named him Rascal (& he lives up to his name every day). My boys:
The whole house plus a bunch of our other friends went on an epic camping trip. Our friend Ryan took a beautiful “family” photo.
I started a job downtown. It was so bizarre to see downtown from so high up. But also awesome, very awesome.
Kyle got a new job too, at Pitt!
Then came the kittens. They were less than a pound when Ben brought them home. The one looking at the camera here is Cinnamon.
And this little one I named Godiva (which turned out to also be a good fit since she is the diva of the two).
I got my first smartphone and proceeded to take many sky pictures. Also, please notice the increase in picture quality.
We used the puppy as an excuse to explore the new neighborhood. It’s a such an improvement from the neighborhood we used to live in. I cannot believe it took me so long to move here.
It’s also super close to the park! Which makes Rascal & I very happy.
The animals got bigger, and learned to be friends:
Halloween faded into Thanksgiving faded into Christmas.
Pumpkins were carved.
Bridges were walked.
#Glowtribe parties were had (yes, our friends are awesome enough to be a tribe)
Miles were traveled
Other puppies were visited (side note: not sure when I became such an animal person, but it’s pretty wonderful). Meet Eddie & Zoe.
Even more of the neighborhood was discovered.
And then it was Christmas! We had a white elephant party.
All things considered, the last few months have been a wonderful start to living here.
